Stakeholders

Since the Earth Summit in 1992 United Nations recognize the urgent need for join efforts of the all sectors of society and all types of people. The efforts to achieve SDGs can be made not only by the governments and Member States but also by other parties. The major groups of the civil society that can contribute from the achievement of SDGs are women, children and youth, indigenous people, NGOs, local authorities, trade unions, private business and industries, academia, farmers. These groups are not the only ones — volunteers, people with disabilities, elderly, educators also play an important role in achieving the SDGs. All these groups are recognized as SDGs stakeholders. They are represented in UN through Organizing Partners (OP). They establish direct connection between stakeholders and the United Nations.

In 2020 NFID joined the NGO Major Group. The tasks of the NGO Major Group are aimed at facilitating the involvement and strengthen the participation of NGOs in all the processes that surround and relate to the High Level Political Forum (HLPF). Through participation in the Major Groups NGOs all over the world establish connections with each other and the UN directly without any limits that can be introduced by the governments. This group includes NGOs that work in all sphere of life. To organize the Major Group there is a systematic approach of thematic clusters. Clusters are also the focal points of expertise on various topics and SDGs.
